This Superman Wonder Woman thing

So I like superhero movies and I've watched a lot of the cartoons and stuff like that.  Marvel easily has more established characters but DC has the big 3, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.  They seem to inject those 3 or at least 2 of them in everything they do.  I really love their animated efforts from Under the Red Hood (the best one) to Young Justice.  But I've noticed that they don't seem to know what to do about Superman and Wonder Woman together.  They seem to really want to promote a relationship there which is news to avid fans because they have historically been linked to other people.  With Superman, it's always been Lois Lane and Wonder Woman has been about Steve Trevor.  This is how I've always known it to be from the original TV shows to the Christopher Reeves movies.  But now they seem to jump all over the place, I'll explain it in context:

The Justice League cartoon which later morphed into Justice League Unlimited was a pretty cool series for superhero fans from 2001 to 2006.  In the show, they were trying hard to promote Wonder Woman and Batman.  She even straight up asked him out and he was like, "My enemies would make it dangerous for you" and Wonder Woman was like, "You know I'm Wonder Woman right?" They shared and kiss or two and the chemistry was there but nothing came of it.  They even had an episode where she met Steve Trevor but there was some time travel involved and when she got back he was an old man, nicely done.

Superman: Doomsday (2007) The movie was OK and Superman was all about Lois Lane.

Wonder Woman (2009) In my opinion, the best Wonder Woman has been depicted in all the cartoons.  And she was all about Steve Trevor.

Justice League: Crisis of Two Earths (2010) As the title states, there were two sets of the Justice League from 2 different worlds.  This one was interesting because the Wonder Woman (Superwoman) from the other world was dating the Superman (Ultraman) of that world while having an affair with the Batman (Owlman) of that world.

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (2010) They were all in it and there was no romantic chemistry, all business.

All-Star Superman (2011) This was pretty much a Superman/Lois Lane love story.

Justice League: Doom (2012) Once again, everybody was there and the only romance was Superman and Lois Lane.

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013) This was the beginning of the end for all past relationship and signaled a change in DC approach.  So this one dealt with an altered reality thanks to Flash.  But in that reality, Wonder Woman was in love with Aquaman(!) whom she later killed...she also killed Steve Trevor (You can't come back from that) and she killed Shazam.  This was also around the time they started tweaking her power levels because let's be honest, there's no way she should be able to hang with Shazam.  Lois Lane was in it but she had no connection to Superman.

Justice League:War (2014) and Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2015) Wonder Woman and Superman's eyes met and that was it, they were a couple.  Steve Trevor was in War, asked her on a date and she was like whatever.  He later saw the way she was looking at Superman and he got the message.  Lois was in both but just as a reporter.  Wonder Woman even checks Lois when she walks up on a date she's having with Clark Kent and tries to belittle him(This is also when her sword became a regular part of her uniform).

.

And now with Justice League Action, they are obviously a couple but I like that the writers took the time to address Steve Trevor and Lois Lane as being not that interested.  I guess that's closure.  I'm not sure where the relationships goes from here but I don't think they should be together.  You need them to stand alone.  When you have a Big 3, you don't tie two of them together in a relationship.
